The journey to Vlieland starts with the crossing from Harlingen. Leave everything behind and enjoy the beautiful nature during the crossing!
Enjoy, for example, a cup of coffee and cake, a sandwich or a hot meal. In the self-service buffets of the car ferries (except ms Midsland) you will also find newspapers, magazines, toys and souvenirs.
With the ferry
Rederij Doeksen operates the ferry from Harlingen to Vlieland and between Vlieland and Terschelling. Timetables can be found on the Doeksen website. Boat tickets can be booked online or by phone: 088-9000888 (local rate).
Bicycles
Bicycles are only transported on the regular ferry service and on the express service between Vlieland and Terschelling and v.v. Expired departures or changed departure times due to force majeure are listed on the shipping company's website.

You can also opt for a fast crossing with a water taxi. Enquire about the possibilities at Waddentaxi or Watertaxi Vlieland.
Hopping
During the summer timetable, you can ‘hop’ from Vlieland to Terschelling and vice versa. Also fun for a day!

Yacht marina
Waddenhaven Vlieland
Waddenhaven Vlieland is located on the eastern tip of the island on the edge of the forest and beach. The village is a 15-minute walk away. The harbour offers around 300 passers-by a comfortable berth with facilities. There is also a working harbour for commercial shipping. In the marina building you will find sanitary facilities, washing machines, a small supermarket (open from mid-April to media September) and a cafeteria. The marina also houses a restaurant. For children, there is a small playground.

Transport on Vlieland
On the island, there are several ways to get to your accommodation and explore the island. If you arrive by boat, a bus will be waiting for you. If you prefer to explore the island on foot, this is also possible and you can also rent a bike!
You are not supposed to bring your car to the island. Vlieland is car-free, which means that in principle, it is not allowed to bring motorised vehicles to Vlieland.

Cycling around the island is of course one of the options. Hire a bike or bring your own.

Day island hopping

Would you like to spend a day island-hopping to Texel from Vlieland? Then you're welcome aboard De Vriendschap.
The Friendship will take you to the Wadden island of Texel. The trip with the Vliehors Expres and the boat takes 1 hour.
You can explore and discover Texel all day, on foot or by bike. At the end of the day, you are expected back at the jetty and the return journey begins.
