Ring riding on horseback
Ring riding on horseback
This event is organized by the "Terschellinger Ruiters". With ring riding, the aim is to get as many rings as possible. On top of every pole there is an arm with “a hand” that keeps up a one inch ring. Riders hold a short, pointed wooden gun with which they try to take the ring from “the hand” while trotting along the poles in an upbeat tempo. It is not easy and often produces hilarious and exciting images.
